Chapter 21 · Section Five, Stage 3: Probe
5 Kinds of Crossings
Name the kind of crossing you're in. It changes how you prepare for it.
The question this chapter asks
Which kind is this crossing, and which kind is asking the most of you?
Practice
15 minutes
Name the kind
Decide which kind of crossing yours is, write it down, and list two things that changes about how you prepare. Keep the two changes where you will see them this week.
For the group
Go around the group. Each person names which kind their crossing is: relational, spiritual, emotional, physical, or vocational. Then ask: does anyone have two kinds operating at once?
For the leader
Most crossings are composites. Naming the secondary kind often reveals the part the person has been ignoring.
If your group prays together
Test everything. Hold on to what is good.
