Chapter 3 · Section One, Crossings
Why Cross at All
Identity. Obedience. Connection. Purpose. These aren't rewards that arrive after the crossing. They're what the crossing contains.
The question this chapter asks
What do you want on the other side that you cannot get here?
Practice

The case for going
Address one paragraph to someone who thinks you should not make this crossing, saying why it is worth making. Read it once out loud to yourself, then fold it and keep it.
For the group
Identity, obedience, connection, purpose. Which one is pulling you right now? Say it to the group and explain why in two sentences.
For the leader
Some people will say "all four." Push gently: "If you had to pick the one that woke you up at 3 AM, which would it be?"
If your group prays together
Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
