Chapter 35 · Section Eight, Barriers to Crossing
Running in Place
The healthy itch is responsive. The treadmill is compulsive.
The question this chapter asks
What activity keeps you busy near the crossing without moving toward it?
Practice
20 minutes
Responsive or compulsive
List the moves you have made in the last five years. Mark each one responsive or compulsive. Circle the move that surprised you most.
For the group
Is the itch you're feeling right now responsive or compulsive? Are you moving toward something, or just moving? Ask the group to help you tell the difference.
For the leader
The group can see the treadmill better than the person on it. "That sounds like movement without direction" is a valid observation.
If your group prays together
Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles.
